THE National Horseracing Authority (NHA) in April 2018 commissioned Malan du Toit to host a workshop at Summerveld during which all aspects of starting stall procedures were handled, including sharpening of staff skills, handling matters and improved focus, and safety aspects.
The workshop was preceded by work done at Friday evening’s Greyville meeting. “The workshop was attended by starting stall staff, officials and stipendiary stewards and we interacted with each other. Good progress was made,” Du Toit said.
“It is also important for the public to know that we’re not dealing with romantic ‘Black Beauty’ type horses here. Loading horses is not an easy job.” Michele Wing and cameraman Alan Duncan filmed everything for the TV show, Racing News.
